Cant logon with the server credentials
Hy,
Im running Windows 8.1 with WS2012 Essentials R2.
When i complete the steps from the connector it installs the apps for WS.
But i cant see the login screen to login with my WS credentials, only to login with my local account.
How to fix this?

Update Loop on KB2919355
For the last few weeks I have been trying to get this update installed. It does the initial install OK, reboots and at 99% after reboot, it says it has failed and then removes all changes.
It is a fairly plain server Win SVR2012 R2 Essentials with Symantec Endpoint.
I am stuck as I really need to get this installed so I can move the server forward.
To date I have done the following;
Cleared some pending.xml from the WINSXS folder; rebooted and then attempt Windows Update again
Run the DISM health check says it has repaired the store at least 5 times now
Run the Windows Update Diagnostic tool - says it fixed an issue - run after each failure
Checked I have the c:\users\default folder
I have tried to do the install as individual component but it fails on that as well.
I am thinking of removing Symantec

How to skip domain joining during client deployment in a Windows Server 2012 Essentials network
This post describes a tempory solution that allows client computers to connect to Windows Server 2012 Essentials without joining the Windows Server 2012 Essentials domain. Please read the following Notes carefully before you take any actions.
Description
When deploying Pro/Enterprise/Ultimate Windows client computers in a Windows Server 2012 Essentials network, joining the Windows Server 2012 Essentials domain is mandatory. If the client computer is already joined to another domain, you are required to manually leave the existing domain; otherwise, the client deployment process will be blocked.
Currently we have received requests from customers asking for the option to skip domain joining in a client deployment. As a result, in this article we provide a solution so that the client can connect to the server and utilize the majority of client features without joining the domain.
Before you take any action, please read the following note.
Note:
If you skip joining the domain, the following areas will be impacted:
- All features that require that you be joined to the domain will not be available, including domain credentials, Group Policy, and VPN.
- Any third-party add-ons and applications that require that you join the domain will not be working properly.
- Skipping domain joining in an off-premises client deployment is not supported.
- This solution is only supported on the following Windows client versions:
- Windows 7 Professional
- Windows 7 Enterprise
- Windows 7 Ultimate
- Windows 8 Pro
- Windows 8 Enterprise
To skip joining the domain during a client deployment
- On your client computer, go to Start and search for command prompt "cmd".
- In the search results, find cmd.exe and run as administrator.
- Type the following command prompt:

Server 2012 Essentials - Client Back Up Fails When Using Storage Pool for client backups folder
Hi,
I recently rebuilt my WHS 2011 with Server 2012 Essentials but am experiencing issues with backups when the Client computer backups folder is on a Storage pool.
If the Client backups folder is on the system drive or an individual hard drive it works fine but as soon as I move the folder to a storage pool it fails after around 1-2%.

I've tried it with a storage pool of 3 disks with parity, and 2 disks mirrored, both scenarios fail. I've tried with ReFS as well as NTFS for the file systems.
I can replicate easily: move the Client Backups folder to C: or other individual drive and it works, move the folder to use a storage pool and it fails every time. I've tried rebuilding the server many time with the same result. MyWindows 7 client doesn't back up either. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas how to resolve this?

SQL Server 2008 R2 sp3 wont uninstall
We have server 2012 essentials operating as a domain controller and vpn file server. While trying to install a database program that uses sql server 2008r2 we encountered errors launching the sql server service attached to this program. I found that upgrading from sp1 which installs as default from the program to sp3 should fix the problem, however the database seems to have become corrupted in the process. I decided to try and start from scratch, however I cant uninstall sql server 2008 r2.

I have tried every online fix short of creating a .bat to remove, which i don't want to do since I don't really trust my coding skills on that. We are at the point where we think we have to refresh to factory on the server, any advice would be great! Thank you in advance.

How to set each NIC to diferent security profile
Hallo,
I am setting up firewall on WS2012Essentials. There are 2 NICs. First one is connected to internet and the second one is connected to LAN. The server serves as primary DC. I've prepared my firewall rules for public and domain profile but both NICs got domain profile and I can't find a way how to set public profile for the NIC which is connected to the internet.
Is in general possible to have more active security profiles at the same time or these profiles are here only for the possibility to switch between on notebooks etc? If yes how. Thanks for reply in advance.

Not all Office 365 licenses are displayed on the Windows Server Essentials Dashboard
Hi,
We have a subscription for 5 Office 365 Business Premium and 9 Business Essentials licenses. Both were purchased directly via the Office 365 Admin portal. However, when we enabled Office 365 integration on our Windows Server Essentials Dashboard, it only displays the Business Premium licenses. This is weird because when I check the status on the O365 Admin Portal directly, it displays both types of licenses correctly.
Would be grateful for any help. Thanks.

Unable to access server folder on another server
I am running Server 2012 R2 with essentials experience installed
Remote Web Access to server folders on local drive works fine
I am able to create a server folder on a remote server but and even open it from the dashboard when it is first created but then after a few seconds the status changes to disconnected and I can no longer access it from the dashboard.
From the logs below it seems like some sort of communication issue but everything else is functioning well

UPDATE - Works perfectly if I put the server folder on remote server that is a domain controller but not on a member server. btw by remote I just mean a different server on the same network. The essentials experience server is not a domain controller.

UPnP Issues when trying to connect anywhere access.
Hi,
I am fairly new to NAS building and I just started setting up my server on Windows Server 2012 R2.
Currently getting an issue why trying to set up anywhere access where when going through the wizard to set up remote access, I get an error UPnP is not enabled on your router. Now I know for a fact that it is, because i logged into my router and it says that it is enabled. I have even forwarded ports 443 and 80 to my server's IP adress and disabled it and still getting the UPnP error. Seems like nothing I can do can get my past this error.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anywhere Access (and all other web pages) not working after restart
So a while ago I posted trying to get Anywhere Access back up an running, because when I set it up it is fine, I can log in from anywhere. After the Server restarts whether its an automatic update or me installing something, none of the web pages on the
server (e.g. windows-server/connect) won't run because apparently something is using the port, I've seen this on loads of threads but I've never seen a solution to it. I was thinking that there might be a way to set priority of something, I sort of new to
Windows Server stuff. Any help would be much appreciated.

Unable to start Windows Server Essentials Management Service (WseMgmtSvc)
Earlier this week, I did a clean install of Windows Server R2 Essentials. Before performing any setup functions, I installed all of the updates that Windows Update provided. Now, I am unable to perform any of the Setup functions from the Dashboard. Each link fails with a different error message.
The probable cause, IMHO, is that the Windows Server Essentials Management Service is not running and can not be forced to start. I get the message "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly". Can any one help?

Configure for BackUp
I am trying to configure Windows Server 2012 Essentials for Back Up with 4 2TB hard drives and I get the an error message that states the wizard can not recognize any hard drives to use for backup. When the server Boots up it recognizes all 4 drives with a RAID 1. When I am on the dashboard and go to control panel, disk management show one hard drive partition of 3.6 TB. Any help in getting the software to see all of the hard drives set up my server to run a backup schedule?

Restarting Print Spooler in Windows 8
I followed the tutorial on how to restart spooler, I was not able to press restart so I pressed start.
A window titled; Service popped up; Which read - Windows could not start the print service on local computer.
Error 1068: The Dependency Service or Group failed to start.
Now, What do I do?

External USB Drive not recognized for backup
I'd like to back up my WSE 2012 R2 server to an external Seagate HD.
File explorer sees the drive (WSE assigns it a drive letter) and you can easily copy or delete files from it, however the WSE 2012 R2 Server back-up wizard does not recognize the drive at all.
I get an error message that says something to the effect that "The wizard cannot find any drives that are suitable for a backup destination ...."
I'm stumped.

Anywhere access not working even after successful configuration.
I have just set up windows server 2012 essentials on a server. I successfully configured it and the computer told me that too.
After that I set up anywhere access through the dashboard and got a domain from Microsoft. It configured everything with no errors (it did not come up with any or show any after).
When I then try to connect on the new domain (Custom).remotewebaccess.com (where custom is my personalised domain during AA setup) it just comes up on my iPad server stopped responding. When I do it on my laptop it says I cannot reach the page. it worked perfectly Saturday evening then stopped working Sunday. I ran the repair and it diagnosed anywhere access and checked stuff and came back with no errors still. I still cannot connect.
I decided to clean install S2012 on Sunday eve and configured on Monday. I still cannot connect to the remote web access. I can connect through the server ip and I can go to the connection page to connect computers and remote desktop works fine. it is just this anywhere access that is not working.
does anyone know what the problem is and/or know how to fix it?

Support of WMA Lossless Media Streaming over Web on Server 2012 R2
Hi,
today I installed the new Media Streaming from this site:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40837&WT.mc_id=rss_alldownloads_all
It works for MP3 but not for WMA lossless Files over the remote web access Site. It said that this format is not supported. I trust Microsoft, so all my Music is stored in WMA Lossless format (over 9.000 Files).
Could you please tell me if I could fix it myself or provide an Update for solving this problem.

Is there any way to set up Remote Access using IKEv2 in Windows Server 2012 R2 (for use with Windows Phone)
I'm teaching myself how to set up Windows Server, and have managed to get my server set up basically how I want it (remote access, networking, etc), but realized I can't VPN into my Server/Network from my Lumia because WP8.1 seems to require IKEv2 by default and I am using PPTP with my Surface 2 with Server Essentials. It appears that the only way to configure it is with the Routing and Remote Access Management Console (rrasmgmt.msc), but that seems to be disabled now that I installed Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2.
I may be missing something, but if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.
