Network card device has #2, #3... incrementing at end of the device name

Was updating the Broadcom BCM5723 NIC drivers from the Broadcom original 15.4.0.17 to the HP released 15.4.0.19 version and

this triggered the network device to have a number #2 assigned to its name as listed in device manager.

So I though uninstalling and reinstalling would perhaps solve this. But it did not. The inbox driver loads and device manager further increments

the network device name to #3. I have now reached #4 with several uninstalls and reinstalls of different versions of the driver and have come across a very similar issue here inKB2791738.
