I have performed several installs of Windows 2012 Essentials on different hardware and configurations but all resulted in the inability for the server to browse the internet. From the Command Prompt I can ping the internet and I can RDP into the server from
a workstation. This all points to either the physical router or the server routing itself. DHCP comes from the physical router and the server acquires an address just fine. I have three PCs (2 windows 7 and 1 Vista), an IP telephone system and a windows 2003
server in a workgroup. The telephone switch is on .50. I can create a new 2003 server on the same hardware with no problems and none of the other devices has any issues. The router is a LinkSys WRT54GP2 with a Vonage Option. The only device with an issue is
the 2012 Essentials Server. It will resolve the url and then sits on "Waiting for ...".
I see that the DNS has "::1" and "127.0.0.1" before the valid ISP DNS, but removing these has no effect. I have uninstalled IPV6 with no effect.
There are no errors in any of the windows logs.
Assigning a fixed IP and DNS has no effect. Network connection shows domain.local and internet access. Removing all the security on IE has no effect. Essentials Server will not update or register.
I have used the same boot disk on an install at another location with no issues. (Eliminates install image).
I have Googled all the permutations I can think of but I could not find anything that helped.
Any suggestions on where to look, what to change or what to do next would be appreciated. This is getting really aggravating!
Thanks in advance....
I wish you a happy new year - I am just trying to make it a happy new year for me too!
