The 2012E server and the instructions online talk about running the tool on the source server but in terms of having a 2008SBS. I don't have a 2008SBS. I have a regular 2008 server which is stand alone. No other servers on the network handle any of the services (DHCP, DNS, etc).
My question is 1) do I need to run the migration tool on a non-2008SBS server to migrate the 2012E server?
It doesn't seem like a good idea to start a new domain and then remove the stand alone 2008 server. It seems like a lot more work going this route because then all the workstations and devices, plus users, rights, folders, etc all need to be added and modified.
