Hello,
I have a standalone Server 2012 R2 Essentials (not a VM or and an added role).
I am following Install Windows Server 2012 Essentials to migrate from Server 2003 R2 to Server 2012 Essentials. I took ill after the initial installation and now the time is in excess of 21days. The source server stays up and running, but the destination server shuts down once a week. I get to the second step in the migration and the NETDOM QUERY FSMO and get the error "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. The command failed to complete successfully." The DNS points to the source server and the name can be resolved via ping correctly. If I continue to ntdsutil and execute activate instance NTDS I get "The machine is not an Active Directory Domain Controller" Any ideas? - Larry
