What would your advice be on configuring storage? I am wondering if I need my storage spaces?
HP Proliant server with WSE. OS drive, plus 2 3tb drives configured as storage space with two way mirror. One non storage space drive which was 2tb and about to replace with 3tb.
Configured storage space with mirror for obvious reasons of security, disk failure etc.
However have fairly robust backup strategy. Server is backed up to second server (running old WHS but nothing else) with plenty of disk space. This server in turn backs up to 3rd (even older WHS) server also with plenty of free disk space. The second server also backs up in entirety to CrashPlan for offsite bckup. I may move CrashPlan to WSE server depending on Azure etc.
At the moment only 2 computers backup to WSE server, but this is during test configuration. When stable around 5 will back up regularly.
So my question is - I configured storage spaces on WSE so that data in shared folders was robust and easily secured in case of disk failure. I am not sure what the current consensus is on Storage Spaces and issues with them. Given that the data is being backed
up daily to 2 other servers and offline as well, if it were you would you continue with the storage spaces or split the drives into 3 3tb drives?
Hope this is clear
