Domain-joined laptops?

I'm setting up a small network for 11 workstations; some of them are laptop users who leave the building from time to time.

The benefits of Anywhere Access aside for the moment, I'm wondering about both the security and logistical implications of joining these laptops to the domain. My motivation for doing so is to be able to take advantage of folder redirection and offline files technology (I've decided against roaming profiles--they're not needed).

It'll be a lot easier, for example, for a domain user to bring his laptop to work, log onto the local network and have his files sync up automatically, rather than have to manually upload his changes through AA. I know that AA provides RDP into local workstations, but these folks won't have separate workstations--everything's with them on their laptops.

Does anyone have experience with this setup? Would I introduce security issues or maintenance headaches for myself by joining them to the domain?

Thanks,
Jeff Bowman
