I recently had a Storage Pool/Space using 3 external USB 3.0 drives in Windows Server 2012 Essentials. I decided to take the drives out of the enclosures, and connected them directly to the internal SATA connectors on my mother board. When the server was started back up, those 3 drives now show as disconnected in Storage Spaces.
When I do the command "get-physicaldisk" in PowerShell, the drives show up as "physical disks 1,2, & 5" and are 2.72TB each. But it also lists the Seagate Expansion disks as well, with a status of "communication lost". These are the same three drives that are now internal.
Nothing has been deleted or erased, so all data is still on each individual drive, and would assume that if i was able to put them back in the external enclosures, would come right back online. I figured that simply moving them to a new HDD controller (internal SATA from USB) would not cause the Pool to drop the drives, as they are still connected to the same server.
Is there a way to get Storage Spaces to see and read the 3 internal drives to bring my Pool/Space back online without losing the data?
