Problem in promoting server as a domain controller?

Hi 
installed active directory successfully on server (using vmware), then i promote the server as a domain controller, all the prerequisites check passed successfully. but when i hit the install button it will give me an error says " the operation failed with the following error : a general network error occured" 

new domain controller in a new forest 
i am using static ip 192.168.1.10 
mask 255.255.255.0 
gateway 192.168.1.1 
dns 192.168.1.1 
server is connected to the internet 
tried the network adapter settings on both NAT and BRIDGE network connection
