Can a WS2012-essentials work ok on in a site that already has a domain controller

As it was discussed before in thread below that Domain Controller functionality of WS-2012 could not be disabled:

What happens if we install a WS2012-essentials in a site that already has a domain controller and not join that domain?

Basically can it sit there and its doamin controller functionality not be used? I am thinking of creating an iSCSI SAN using WS2012Essentials and just share iSCSI storage in the site, so there is really no need for this box to be a domain controller or join a domain. Will it cause any problem for the existing domain controller?
