Hi,
I am going to be replacing the server at one of our customers this month.
At the moment they have a Windows 2003 SBS server which is also the mail server, my plan is to install a new server with Windows 2012 Essentials as a replacement and move Exchange up to Office 365.
The network in question has 11 users and not a massive amount of data.
The way I see it is this I can do a migration installation as I install my Windows 2012 server and follow all the info I can find online. Or I do a normal install of 2012 Essentials and do a dcpromo up to get it to be a DC on the network, move all the infrastructure master, GC server and such like, and then demote the SBS server.
To me I prefer the second method because I can preinstall all my software on the server before doing the dcpromo.
Is there any reason why this would not work?
Thanks,
