Client Launchpad empty

Hello, I have a client computer connected to Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 that seems to have and error with the LaunchPad. I have searched the forums for this issue but have been unable to find a fix for this particular instance. 

After connecting the computer to the server using the connector software, the computer joins the domain and sets up a vpn with the servers network like normal. The system tray LaunchPad icon says that the computer is connected to the server and the client computer has connectivity to mapped network drives. However, upon opening the Launchpad it is completely blank(see attached), which doesn't allow the user to setup the backup client side. I am able to start a manual backup server side on the clients PC however it just hangs at "In Progress 1%" perpetually (see attached).

I have tried removing and re-adding the server connector software from the clients PC as well as completely removing the client PC from the server/domain and re-adding it, all to no avail. 

Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.
