server 2012 Essentials - Setup Anywhere Access Behind a UTM Firewall

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on how to properly setup my server 2012 essentials behind a business class firewall/UTM device and not a home router. The firewall is used for a variety of things like VPN and network monitoring and reporting and sits directly behind the ISP's equipment. Since the firewall does not support UPNP and allow devices to open and close ports and other services on the fly... I have to manually configure it to allow or disallow traffic to come through.

If I setup my firewall correctly to block all incoming traffic, but allow outgoing traffic from anything on the inside I will get errors when setting up anywhere access. I literally have specify that traffic from the outside (specifically my work IP address) is allowed to come in on port 80 and 443, I can get all the errors in anywhere access to go away except the UPNP error.

Connecting to my server via the http page works fine and I can access all the media and files successfully but get an error every day from the alert reporter that the server is not connected to the Internet, or that the router is not configured correctly. I have not yet tested remote access of any client workstations but I imagine the also do not work.

Is server 2012 essentials really just a server for the home user who uses your typical home user router... or does it have the capability of running behind a real working class small business firewall?

Thanks for your thoughts on this and I look forward to hearing your advice.
