Creating a bootable USB for the Server

I've recently installed Windows Server 2012 Essentials and I'm considering my options regarding server backup in the event of server hardware failure. The new server is covered by a next day hardware maintenance contract but this will only cover a replacement hard drive, power supply etc. i.e. I need to backup the server configuration to make it restorable in the event of hardware catastrophe.

As such I have the following question:

Can anybody tell me if the facility to create a bootable USB key in "Create Key" in Devices >> Customise Computer Backup and File History settings >> Tools is relevant to the server? i.e. can the bootable USB key created in this process be used to help restore the Windows Server 2012 Essentials server in the event of a hardware failure?

If the answer is Yes, can anybody provide a few pointers on how the USB key would be used? I anticipate having to boot the server from the USB key and I am reasonable comfortable in doing that but will the restore process need access to other resources to fully restore the server?
